Wanda Kimberly

Wanda Kimberly passed away peacefully at age 86 on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the de Greeff Hospice House. She was the beloved wife to Buddy, mother to Barbara (David) Baker, Steven (Jennie) Kimberly, Linda (John) Dieckhaus, grandmother to Keith, Kristine, Joseph, Paul, Cole and Jack, Great-Grandmother to Alex, Gage, Morgan and Penny on her way.

She was born in Sept. 1932, in Lithium, MO. She is a polio survivor and was a resident of Shriners Hospital for Children for 13 months in early 1940’s. She played Mary in the Christmas play after which the hospital closed to visitors for three months to protect the patients from viruses. She returned to Shriners ten years later as a volunteer.

She attended Cleveland High School where she was a member of the Honor Society. She met her future husband as pen pals while he was in the Armed Services. They were married for over 30 years until his passing.

Wanda worked at International Shoe Co. in Merchant Services for over 30 years until they closed. There she met many people who would be lifelong friends. She also worked with amazing people at the Cochran VA Hospital for 10 years.

Everyone knows Wanda as the one they call to talk about every triumph, every setback, every moment that make a life. We won’t know what to do without her.

The family is grateful for the attention and compassion provided by caregivers at Mercy South and de Greeff Hospice. Please send donations to Shriners Hospital for Children or American Heart Association.
