Tracy Rachelle “Tootie” Smith

Tracy Rachelle “Tootie” Smith was born November 28, 1970, and passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 17, 2018, at the age of 47.
Tracy is survived by her Mother Bonnie Hall, Step Father Bob Hall, Sisters Karey Smith, Jeannie Lawson, and (her little sister) Kayla Hall, Uncles and their Wives Don and Monica Smith, and Gary and Jacqueline Smith.
Tracy is preceded in death by her Father Leroy Smith, Grandma Wilma Smith, Grandpa Melvin Smith, Grandma Nannie Wiltshire, Grandpa Joseph Wiltshire (Bigga Daddy), Aunt Eddie Jewel Bayles, Uncle Joe Wiltshire, Uncle Bob Wiltshire, and Uncle Charlie Wiltshire.
Tracy touched so many lives. She was the poster child for the St. Louis Variety Club for three years. Tracy and her mother counseled other families who delivered Spina Bifida children. Tracy gave hope to new parents as she shared her successes in accomplishing many things when the doctors set limitations. Tracy loved to volunteer and help people. Tracy was also presented a royal tiara and made an honorary Disney Princess, courtesy of her “buddy Cindy” (Cinderella).
There was no mountain Tracy didn’t want to climb. She faced every day with a smile and a “yes” attitude. Tracy defied all of the odds that were often stacked against her.
Despite her disabilities, growing up Tracy’s mom was determined to allow her to have any and all experiences a child would want to do. A good example is when Tracy wanted to go roller skating at a party. Everyone one else at the party was skating. They locked her braces, and off they went (thanks for your help Uncle Gary). Tracy and her mom also enjoyed four wheeling, rafting, and they even went for bike rides. Tracy’s greatest loves were animals, her family, and Disney.
Tracy will live on in our hearts. In this time of sadness Tracy would want us to rejoice knowing she is running through the gates of Heaven and dancing.
There will be a Celebration of Tracy’s life on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at
St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103, beginning at 2pm

Tracy was a wonderful young lady who taught me much about not letting any disability prevent you from accomplishing your goals. I met her as a very young nurse at Cardinal Glennon and she quickly became one of the patients I thoroughly enjoyed going into work and caring for. I learned much about life from her and I pray she knew how much I always loved her. She will forever remain an imprint on my heart. Rest in peace Tracy. Enjoy walking, running, and dancing. I hope to meet again someday in heaven. I love you. ?? Your nurse Tina
