Steven Leroy Joiner

Steven Leroy Joiner, (known as Steve or Jake), was the only son of Leroy and Bettie (Stewart) Joiner. He was the grandson of Charles G. Joiner and Florence Thompson (Crystal City, MO) and Steve and Clara (Conners) Stewart (O’Fallon, MO), all of whom preceded him in death. Steve was also preceded in death by one niece, Davida Renee’ Joiner. Steve was a loving father to Kristi A. Joiner and Lauren Joiner-Heard. Their mother, Pamela Jean Hamilton, preceded him in death.

Steve was a “fixer” and had a tinkering spirit. He could repair almost anything and in many cases was successful however the problem was that he rarely finished his projects! In his spare time he loved to fish. He also loved his music ranging from Led Zepplin to Frank Sinatra and Santana. He was a great sideline coach, hollering plays at the t.v. on football games and at political pundits on MSNBC. On weekends you could find Steve drinking his Budweiser, entertaining and cooking some delicious BBQ. He was famous for his chicken wings, BBQ sauce and most of all Snoots!

Steve was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools, graduating from Curtis Elementary and Central High School, Class of ’75. He went on to take classes and courses in mechanical engineering and HVAC, to help him do his jobs at the Pierce Bldg (Adam’s Mark) and Jones, Lang, Lasalle before landing his final job at St. Louis Lambert Airport through the City of St. Louis. He retired in 2016 due to his failing health.

While he became the patriarch of the family after Poppee died, he was a loving grandpa to Chylin Me’Kayla Joiner, Kaytlin Davida Joiner and Xavier Brendan Heard. He also leaves behind, sisters, Renee Joiner, Laura Joiner and Gwen Jones, brother Keith Harris; one son-in-law, Prentiss Heard, brother-in-law, Lloyd Williams, three aunts, Mary Preston, Corrine Cannon (Crystal City, MO), Christine Cayce (Festus, MO). Steve was a good uncle, to Adrienne Joiner, Justin Williams and Taylor Best. There are cousins too numerous to mention, living all across America, who, along with his immediate family and friends will mourn his passing. He loved us all.

May fond memories of Dad “Steve Joiner” bring comfort during this hard time in this families life. Look back on all the good memories you all were able to have and smile at the fact that you all were able to share these before Dad passed away. My heart and prayers go out truly to My Best friend/sister Kristi and baby sister Lauren and family. We keep in our hearts the pain and sorrow knowing that Dad left us forever, leaving for the world of eternity. We will always love you “Dad Steve”..“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
