Stephen Monson Hall

Dr. Stephen Monson “Steve” Hall, 75, died at Mercy Hospital St. Louis on Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was born March 1, 1943, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Vaughn and VeaLois (nee Monson) Hall. He was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, along with his five siblings. He married Mary Jean Hail in St. Louis on August 23, 1969.

Following high school, Stephen enlisted in the National Guard and completed training with the Air Force. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah, followed by his doctorate of dental surgery from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his oral surgery residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He practiced oral surgery in St. Charles until retiring in 2013.

Stephen served the community both as a youth hockey coach and President of Parkway Central Hockey Club, and by providing volunteer dental services in St. Charles. His hobbies included rock climbing and handball. In more recent years, he enjoyed traveling through national parks in the western United States, watching youth hockey, and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Mary, of their home in St. Louis; his children, Brian (Heather) Hall, Cody (Megan) Hall, and Steffanie Hall, all of the St. Louis area; his grandchildren, Ayden, Nicholas, and Riley; and his siblings, Garth (Sharon) Hall of Rexburg, Idaho, Gordon (Janis) Hall of Tempe, Arizona, Michelle (Marc) Mariani of Salt Lake City, Utah, Diane (David) Waltman of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Janice Joy (David) Zook of Chandler, Arizona, as well as their children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Living Word Church, 17315 Manchester Road, Wildwood, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Park Foundation or the National Wildlife Federation.
