Stephanie Marie Robinson

A woman who exemplifies the fruit of the Holy Spirit; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control.

Miss Stephanie Marie Robinson was born May 13, 1974 to the union of Joseph Walker Tyson and Flora Robinson in the City of St. Louis, MO. She was one of 13 children between both parents. Stephanie’s maternal and paternal grandparents Elmira and Preston Tyson and Samella and Floyd Robinson; Father Joseph Walker Tyson, sister Ramona Renee, brother-in-law David Tunstall and nephew Baby Boy Robinson all preceded her in death.

Stephanie loved the Lord and at the encouragement of a special Aunt Marie Ebron, Stephanie was baptized and did worship at St. Luke’s M.M. Baptist Church in her youth. Stephanie was an avid reader and lover of all genres of music. Stephanie was educated in the SLPS system and graduated from Charles Sumner High School in 1993. She continued her education at Forest Park CC and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Stephanie began her work career as a teacher’s assistant with the YMCA School Age Program. Stephanie then worked with the Human Development Corporation as an educator for more than 10 years, until Grace Hill Settlement House took over management. Stephanie continued to work as an educational aide until health issues forced her to stop working in 2012.

After being forced to stop working, Stephanie enjoyed volunteering at early learning centers and babysitting for family members. This allowed her to schedule things around her dialysis appointments and treatments.

At an early age, Stephanie was diagnosed with Lupus and later found to have hypertension. Both illnesses resulted in End Stage Renal Disease. Stephanie was given a very bleak outlook by her doctors more than 6 years ago and instead of giving in, she fought long and hard. Stephanie’s resilience shocked some of her doctors. Unfortunately the effects of the disease and the treatments were debilitating to her body and almost broke her spirit. Not one to ever give up, Stephanie fought to the very end. She fought with the vigor of a legion of angels.

Stephanie departed this life on February 16, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son Darryl Tyson, mother Flora Robinson, siblings Patricia, Pamella (Calvin), Joseph, Phyllis, Preston, Valerie, Tracey (Keith), Janelle, Travis and Krystal, countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Ms. Stephanie M. Robinson, a woman of great strength, perseverance, resilience and character was a God-sent blessing and touched the lives of many. She will be greatly missed.

I wish you sweet sleep, my dear sister Gee.
I hate that you had to endure such pain and suffering. I use to wondered what you thought about as you sat looking out the window. So many unspoken words you’ve left behind. A sweet peace has fallen upon your head; an a taste of sorrow I have gained. I am not saddened by your death, I am sad because I will miss your voice, the way you laughed and all the crazy stories you shared regarding your hospital stays. Man how we would laugh…..I told you often how much I loved you. I know this grief will ease with time; but there’s no replacing my sister Gee.
    -Love Always Phyllis
