Peter Black

Peter Black passed away peacefully on June 6, 2018.

Peter was born in New York City, New York on October 6, 1941, the son of the late John Gordon Black and Carol Lewis Black.

Beginning with J. Walter Thompson in New York City, Peter spent his most favorite part of his life’s work in advertising, in addition to working for New York Life.

Throughout his life, Peter was an avid reader, the consummate loyal friend, a lover of board games, especially Scrabble, and everything lobster. He looked forward to his early mornings on Long Island Sound on the lobster yacht with his good buddies, trapping lobsters and entertaining his friends with fresh lobster and culinary creations. With an ever-ready smile and a gentle heart, Peter exuded kindness and good cheer. His winsome smile, warm voice, and ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome were his hallmarks.

Peter is survived by his sister, Holly Temple, St. Louis, Missouri; daughter Samantha in New York City; sons, Gregory and Eric, Stamford, Ct. and Santa Barbara, Ca.; grandson, Brady Black; spouse, Virginia Black, Greenwich, Ct.

In lieu of flowers, Peter would want you to be kind to one another, sing a happy tune, enjoy a nice glass of wine or a splash of good brandy, and live a simple and good life.
