Mary Ellen Feist

Mary Feist, 82, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Anna, IL died Thursday, April 12th, at her home peacefully surrounded with love by family and friends. She was born the daughter of Robert Bogner and Eleanor Tuite in Oak Park, IL.

Mary is survived by her children, David Tuthill Wingate, Mary Catherine Wingate-Funk, Elizabeth Scott Wingate, Margeaux Louise Raymond, John Page Wingate and Lewis Adam Wingate; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother Bob and his wife Marge Bogner, sister in law Paula and her husband Karl Yehle; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Stan Feist.

Mary graduated Cum Laude from Hanover College in Indiana where she served as the President of Alpha Omicron Pi, Panhellenic Council, and Student Council, to name a few. She received her Master’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. She pursued her passion of teaching at Anna Jonesboro Community High School, where she taught French and Spanish, while also serving as the Regional President of the Illinois Education Association. Mary and her husband Stan owned and operated restaurants in their retirement, pursuing their dreams and exploring their passion for great food. She was an active of the Second Presbyterian Church, following their Mission and Ministry, worked on numerous committees, and found her love for the Good Ground Pantry. Mary enjoyed spending time traveling the world, the arts and fine food, Cardinals baseball, but most of all, spending time with her beloved family.

Memorial services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Feist will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27th, on her birthday, at the Second Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, MO, with Pastor Travis Winckler and Pastor Susan Andrews officiating. The Family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, Good Ground Pantry, 4501 Westminister Place, St. Louis, MO 63108.

    I am so sorry to learn about Mary’s passing. She was a dear friend. We had a lot of adventures in IEA and traveling. Ones that I shall never forget. Mary was a grand lady. Loved her dearly.
