Letty Cash, of Wildwood MO, passed away peacefully in her home on October 13, 2016, surrounded by her husband Jim and son Jamie, following a long, valiant and determined fight with cancer. Born in Hove, England, Letty came to the US via Williamsburg, VA, before ultimately settling in St. Louis. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and wife, she shared her irrepressible spirit with so many people, throughout her entire life. Her infectious energy and indomitable spirit gave strength to her family and friends, and she greeted her illness with a dignified but fierce resilience, combining a joyous smile with a British stiff upper lip.

She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Jim, her son Jamie, her “daughter-in-love” Kirun, and her grandson Silas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, if you wish to do so, to one of two parts of Barnes-Jewish that served my mother throughout this entire journey. To support BJC’s ongoing mission to treat people with cancer, please make contributions to the Siteman Cancer Center, CB 1204, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105. To support BJC Hospice in its mission to provide comfort, support and dignity to patients in their final journey, please make contributions @ http://www.bjchospice.org/Donate.aspx .

My wife, Joan & I only recently found out about Letty’s passing.

She was a wonderful person, a great lady and always fun to be around.

Letty befriended us when we moved to St Louis almost 20 years ago to work on the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts.

I will always remember her friendly, upbeat English voice.

Letty became a US citizen on the same day as Joan and I. It was a special day for us all.

    We miss her.
