Lawrence “Pete” Powers

Lawrence “Pete” Powers, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 20, 2017 due to complications from lung cancer. He enjoyed over 89 years of life, 31 of that in retirement. Lawrence was born July 27, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Thomas and Eleanor Powers. He met the love of his life, Shirley Elaine Robison, at a roller rink in 1951 and they eloped to get married in Pocahontas, Arkansas eight weeks later, on September 28, 1951. Their marriage lasted 65 years until his recent passing. He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, loved western movies and dogs, especially his beloved Old English Sheepdog, Molly. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is preceded by brothers Edward, William, Thomas, and Theodore, and is survived by brother and wife Jack and Sharon Powers of Elkland, MO, and sister Eleanor and husband Jim Tschopp of Titusville, FL; his 4 children and their spouses Kathie & Gary McCord, Karen Metcalf, Mary & Terry Feezel, and Bob & Jennefer Powers; his 15 grandchildren Stephanie Cannon, Jennifer Powers, Brandie Turner, Jeffrey McCord, Kelly McCord, Amanda Nesler, Dustin Feezel, Michael Nesler, Katie Powers, Allison Powers, Patrick McDonough, Erin Powers, Caroline McDonough, Brendan McDonough, and Jack Powers; plus 12 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. All of these he loved deeply.
Please join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, April 29, 2017, between 1:00pm – 4:00pm at St. Louis Cremation, 320 Jungermann Rd, in St Peters, MO.     Pete was an uncle who we remember fondly for his great sense of humor and his devotion to his family. Rest in peace, Pete, we will all see you soon.

    So sorry for your loss, my prayers are going out to you all. We lost a great man, but I know in my heart he is in a much better place. My best memories about your dad is how he would call me punk and make me laugh all the time. I really did love that.
