Kenneth Duane Richars.. AKA the ‘King’ ‘Tomah tan’, ‘Wrestler at the Chase’ and movie extra in 3 movies, died August 19th 2016 at Westchester House, Chesterfield, Mo. As per his wishes his body is being donated to Saint Louis University and later cremated. He was born the son Kenneth and Mona Faeth Richars on May 3rd 1930. He was the brother of Neil Eugene Richars (deceased) and father of Patrick Duane Richars of Fort Lauderdale Florida, Fabian Holland (Jerry) of Cullman Alabama. He was the grandfather of Dillon Richars, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Hannah Holland, Brooklyn, NY and Christopher Holland of Madison,WI. He was the King of the 6th grade at Lincoln Grade School in Flora Illinois. He graduated from Normandy High School in St Louis where he was Secretary of his senior class, Secretary of Hi Tri, a little Abner candidate and an avid sports enthusiast and participant. His yearbook listed him as witty and likeable. His nickname was Dewey or daw Dew. He attended McKendree College, and graduated from Carbondale Southern Illinois University, where he was active in football, basketball, baseball and track throughout. He said a record in Javelin throwing in his sophomore year of college – 198 feet and 6 inches. He was CYC basketball coach of the year in 1963. Dewey was employed in Sales and Sales Management with Shelton (Old Spice), Faberge and Royal Rochester Spode- (China Crystal and giftware.) In attendance with the King at many company sales meetings and seminars such notables as Olag Cassini, Cary Grant, George Segal, Poly Burger, Margaux Hemingway, Joe Namath, Lola Falana, Hugh O’Brian, Roger Moore and George Hamilton. He was fortunate to have traveled extensively for pleasure and business to 38 countries and two trips to the Orient. His great loves were Alleen, Ruth, and Patricia. He had many many friends, relatives and acquaintances + 110. What a life!, to be celebrated at later date.
