Julius R. Nahmensen

Julius R. Nahmensen (“Jules”), 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 15, 2017.

Mr. Nahmensen, a native St. Louisan, was born and raised in South St. Louis and graduated from Southwest High School in 1946. He attended night school at Washington University, where he studied Real Estate Law. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country for 2 years in the Korean War. He moved to Florissant in 1954, where he began his family. He met and married the love of his life, Marilyn C. Wolff, and they remained married for 54 years until her passing in 2005. Together they raised 1 daughter, Susan A. Nahmensen, who now has a family of her own.

He started his career in the title industry in 1946 with Land Title Insurance Company in Clayton, MO. In 1947, he joined Missouri Title Guaranty Company where he worked for 44 years, retiring in 1991 as Chairman and C.E.O. He was Vice President of Minnesota Title Insurance Company (now called Old Republic Title Insurance Company). He continued to work part-time for Old Republic as a consultant until 1994. He was also a director of the former St. Louis County Federal Savings and Loan Association.

Mr. Nahmensen was considered an authority on title insurance and he conducted numerous seminars for real estate and financial services groups. Over the years, he had been involved in such projects as the Light Rail, the downtown Convention Center and the Lambert St. Louis Airport Expansion.

He was active in civic affairs, was a member of the St. Louis Ambassadors, Downtown St. Louis Inc. and was one of the original directors of North County Inc.. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer. He was a past president of the Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, Illinois and also a member there for 43 years.

Julius was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn C. Nahmensen ; the loving father of Susan (Don) O’Neal; proud grandfather of (the late) Casey N. O’Brien, Shanna M. O’Brien and Melissa K. (Edward) Leppert; brother-in-law of Merle S. (late Margaret “Peggy”) Wolff; uncle of Michael (Barbara) Wolff and Marie (Vic) McCool; and great-uncle of Christopher and Laura Wolff and Andie and Alex McCool; and dear friend to many.

Services: Mr. Nahmensen will be laid to rest in a private ceremony alongside his late wife Marilyn at Valhalla Cemetery in St. Louis County, MO.
