Joseph Oppenheim

Joseph Oppenheim 85, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed away on November 1, 2018. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 15, 1932.

Dear father of Scott Oppenheim, and Lynda (David) Walters, dear grandfather of Elvis Walters, dear former brother in law of Harvey (Ann) Tettlebaum, dear cousin of Harvey (Phyllis) Brody, and friend to many.

Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Anna (nee Shapiro) and former wife Marlene Oppenheim (nee Tettlebaum).

Joseph was the highest ranked graduate of Washington University Art School in 1955. After graduation he served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He worked for many years as a commercial artist and art teacher. He had a thirst for knowledge of all things related to art and religion that he infused into his paintings and murals.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Center for Spiritual Living St. Louis, 12875 Fee Fee Road, St. Louis, MO 63146.

    I only knew Joe as having created the symbol for the St. Louis Blues. He was a real character. Sorry to see he has passed. I knew him before his decline in health.
