John Valentine

John “Jimmy” James Valentine, 78, passed away September 15, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.

John was born in St. Louis to Joseph and Ardith Leta (nee Faries) Valentine on January 9, 1939. John married Cathy Ann Toth on June 22, 1985.

He was a Journeyman Plumber and retired member of the Plumbers’ & Pipefitters’ Local 562. John was a life member of the High Ridge Elks Lodge and, over the years, belonged to many other organizations. John enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, football, video games, comfort camping, grilling, watching television, and being with friends and family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his 4 children, Laura (nee Sohler) Valentine, daughter, Debra Jean Eickhoff, and granddaughter, Regina Ann Valentine.

John leaves behind cherished memories to be shared with his beloved wife, Cathy, dear daughter Julie Buchanan (Mark Schmiedeskamp) her daughters Angie (Kevin) Stilley and Shannon (Lee) Gorgas. Son – John (Diane), their children Jeremy (Mary) and Amanda. Son – Richard (Christine), their daughters Rebecca (Jesse) Meinhardt and Sara. Also, surviving is grandson John Stephen and eight great grandchildren: Samantha, Hunter, Parker, Kurt, Damian, Xander, Emily, and Cruz.

He is also survived by dear cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, uncle, “brother” – Thomas E. Brady, and a host of other long-time friends.

The Valentine family wishes to sincerely thank Mercy Hospice for the wonderful support and comfort given, especially the compassionate care Georganna and Laurie provided.

Services will be held at a later date.
