John Durawski

Affectionately known by many as Big John, John Durawski passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Larger (and louder) than life, he will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years, Colleen (nee Jaeger) and his daughters, Heather and Briana. John is the son of the late John and Patricia Durawski and is survived by his sisters, Linda Menges and Karen Grimm (Rick). John was an eccentric uncle, great uncle, and brother-in-law, and a friend to many.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, November 17 at Royal Orleans Banquet Center, 2801 Telegraph Road, St. Louis, MO 63125 between 12pm-3pm.

Big John was best friend with my late husband, Chris Virga. They became friends at the age of 16 and we’re still going strong eight years ago when Chris passed away. John was a frequent guest at our house, and Always livened and things up. Im sure that big John and Chris are having a party now.
I pray that Colleen and thier two daughters find peace As they go through the grieving process.
God Speed big John. Miss you.

I grew up next door to Linda, Karen and John they were my grandparents’ next door neighbors. Played Barbies and board games with Karen, went dirt-biking with John, jammed with him during the early ’80’s in Colleen’s and his basement, he was an excellent drummer. Enjoyed every minute of it.

My prayers and condolences to his family. He was great guy. Always smiling and and laughing. He was larger than life. He was the first one over when we moved in 47 years ago. Turned out his Mom and my dad grew up together in Soulard. A lot of great memories growing up together. RIP old friend. May angels guide you way home.
