Joan Griswold

Joan (Mitchell) Griswold passed away peacefully Thursday night, February 8th, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, August 5th, 1932.

 

She met a US Naval Officer while on vacation in San Diego. They married a year later in September 1955. She proudly became a US Citizen in 1962.

 

Joan was married to the late Jac E. Griswold for almost 55 years. She is the Mother of Don, Mike and Paul, Mother-in-Law of Nancy, Maria and Stacey, Grandmother of Michelle, Danielle, Matthew and Rachel; Heidi and Lincoln; Thomas, Audrey and Ava.

 

Joan began her St. Louis teaching career at Parkway’s Manchester Elementary School (now a Kohls) in 1969 and moved to Parkway’s Carman Trails Elementary in 1983, retiring from Carman in 1994.

 

Joan, and her husband Jac, loved to travel, play bridge with their friends, attend live theater, and spend time with their children and grandchildren. Joan was also active in First Church of Christ, Scientist, Clarkson Valley, serving in various capacities, including Second Reader.
