Jim was one of my good friends at Wash U. We started around the same time and talked often. I had the pleasure of attending a church service where he spoke a dozen years ago and remember very fondly the joy he exuded when each grandchild was born. I kept gum on my desk for Jim. If I switched to any other candy, he complained. So, I always made sure I had gum just for him tucked away in a drawer somewhere. I will miss him very much. Hugs to his sweet family.
