Edgar Fritz Glock, Jr.
Edgar Fritz Glock Jr., 77, passed away in his home in Pacific, MO surrounded by family and friends, on December 25, 2016.
Ed, also known as Fritz, was born on August 30, 1939, in St. Louis, MO to parents Edgar Glock, Sr. and Mildred Whitlock. Ed, Owner/Architect/Masonry Consultant for Glock Architecture LLC and previously the executive director of the Masonry Institute of St. Louis and specification consultant for Word Association, Inc. was an active architect, consultant, project manager, and educator. He was a member of the St. Louis Chapters of CSI and AIA. Ed was an avid camper and outdoorsman, spending many years as a Boy Scout Leader, participating in French Indian War Reenactments, Arnold Gun Club, and Single Action Shooting Society. Ed is known for being an unbelievable host and cook. It is said there is no meal he couldn’t cook in a dutch oven over a fire.
Ed leaves behind his wife, Susan McCormick Glock; his four children, daughter Gretchen and her husband, Shawn Teague, Springfield, MO; daughter Erika and her husband, David Devine, Marion, IN; sons, Karl, St. Louis and Kurt, St. Louis; his stepsons, Michael Kirk and his wife Peggy, Desoto; and Joe Kirk and his wife, Nichole, Troy, Il. Ed is also the proud grandfather of Lily, Zachary, Charlie, Greta, Olive, Kacie, Gabe, Caleb, and Isaac. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Glock and his wife Jean Glock, Cedar Hill; his best doggy friend, Abby; a large extended family; and hundreds of admiring friends. Preceding him in passing are his first wife, Eleanor Roland; his brother, Kenneth Glock; granddaughter, Haley Stevens.
A joyous celebration of the life of Edgar Fritz Glock, Jr. will be held on Friday, December 30 at 3 pm at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 9 South Bompart, Webster Groves, Missouri 63119 with a reception immediately following the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall.

Ed’s bright and energetic life is an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He is loved and missed, and will always be cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”
We are so sorry to hear about Ed’s passing. We knew him as Bill DeWall and shot with him many, many times as cowboy shooters. He was always positive and seemed to love life and the game of cowboy shooting. He will be sorely missed by all the cowboy shooters. Our sincere condolences go our to his family members and friends.

So, So very sorry to lose one of our “scout buddies” and campfire chef. Thoughts about Ed bring back many memories of canoeing with the Boy Scouts in boundary waters and many other adventures, May he rest in peace and know how important he was to many people!

He was a fine man. Enjoyed Cowboy Action Shooting with him. He was a cowboy to ride the river with. He will be greatly missed by his cowboy family.

It was 1969 and I was playing banjo in The Red Garter on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. We were playing “California Here I Come” and I was singing “St. Louis here I come” since I was about to move there. Ed and Eleanor were sitting in front of me and told me to call them when I got to St. Louis. I did and we became close friends. Ed was the best man in our wedding in 1970. I visited with Ed and Susan a few years ago in their home. Ed will be missed!!!!!
We have lots of fond memories of Ed and his lovely wife, Susan, at reenactor events. He will be sorely missed, and our thoughts and prayers go to the family.
I want to extend my condolences to Susan, Gretchen, Erika, Karl, Kurt and all Ed’s extended family and friends. Happy trails, Ed. I know you are blazing a trail for the rest of us to follow.
Rest In Peace Sir- Not only have you taught so many Boy Scouts, you taught a lot of us adults- I will miss, your smiles, jokes and stories- however your spirit will be with me for a very long time
On behalf of The American Institute of Architects St. Louis Chapter, we are grateful for all the time Ed dedicated to building strong relationships in the design and construction industries. He was a wonderful person and we will miss him and we send our condolences to his family.
Ed was as cheerful and outgoing and knowledgeable a man as you could ever want to meet. The Saint Louis architectural community will be poorer without him.
I met Ed through the St Louis Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute in the early ’80’s. Always enjoyed his intellectual wit and individuality. Like no other. RIP
My condolences to the family of “Bill DeWall” as I knew him, the dressy cowboy shooter! Helped out whenever he could at the range. He was a good friend and will surely be missed.
Ed and I met through the Construction Specification Institute and became close colleagues. We shared technical information, committee work and educational efforts in the masonry industry. We shared many a beer, trout fishing streams, good food, baseball and philosophical discussions. He made me welcome in his home and introduced me to his family. He gave me wonderful memories, as I am sure he did for you.
The world lost a great spirit with Ed’s passing. He certainly embodied the phrase “A life well lived.” Sue: you and Kurt and Karl and the girls are Ed’s legacy–he done well!
We had 2 sons in scouts the same time Ed’s sons were scouts, so Ed and I went on many camp outs and canoe trips together. When you camped with Ed you ate like royalty. And yes, he could cook anything in a Dutch oven, breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts. We were the envy of all the other campers in the area.
Ed also knew the rivers and the woods like goggle maps. The leaders and the kids had more fun with Ed than you could have with Santa!
God Bless Eds family, He will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. He was such a wonderful man, quick to laugh, and always fun to be around. He was a valued member of The Masonry Society, and we appreciated his many contributions, his knowledge, and the humor he brought to the discussions. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we appreciate the limited, but wonderful times we had with Ed, and we will cherish them always.
Please accept my deepest sympathy. Ed and I spent many days in camp and hours at the campfire discussing brick, its history, attributes, strength, and beauty.

I am so sorry to learn of Ed’s passing. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
Ed and I were friends at Kirkwood High School in the class of ’57. I came to know Ed best during our senior year when we competed in the same weight division on the KHS wrestling team. We helped each other every day in practice, then the day before each match with other schools, we wrestled each other in a tryout to determine who would represent Kirkwood in the match.
It was during those tryout matches that I really came to know and respect Ed. Although I had much more wrestling experience, Ed was a serious and aggressive competitor. In fact, he was even a better wrestler than many of our opponents.
I am proud that I knew Ed as a friend, before his marriage, family, business accomplishments and service to the Boy Scouts.
This is, indeed, a sad day, but there is so much to celebrate in memory of Ed’s life. And, to be thankful for having been a very small part of his life. RIP, Ed!

I knew Ed mainly through his involvement with the Masonry Standard. Together, we tried to craft a proposal that would integrate the specification portion of the standard into the building requirement portion. While our proposal was never realized, it served to draw us closer as we discussed and debated various options. I will always remember Ed for his cooking, fishing and love of the great outdoors. He was a great man with a zest for life and many, many stories to tell. He will be missed.
