David Wayne Beal
David Wayne Beal, 62, of St. Louis, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
He was born August 7, 1955 in Tampa, Florida to the late Roy and Helen Beal. He lived in several cities and eventually settled in St. Louis. He attended Lindbergh High School and then the University of Missouri – Columbia where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
During college he met and later married the love of his life Judy Thum in 1980. After a few jobs in engineering, he spent the last 25 years of his career teaching engineering and mathematics at St. Louis Community College. He retired from the college in 2011.
Dave loved the outdoors, boating, water skiing, fishing, hunting, snow skiing, golfing, and floating, camping. He was also an avid Cardinal baseball fan and had a love-hate relationship with cars. He loved to drive them, but it seemed like he was always working on one of his vehicles.
Dave was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Judy.
A memorial will be held at the home of John and Cis Thum, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, April 28th. A luncheon will be included.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to support the Missouri Conservation Department or Evelyn’s House Hospice.
Judy and her family would like to thank the entire staff at Evelyn’s House Hospice as well as the BJC South 14th floor staff for the compassion and care they gave Dave during his stay.
Wish I could be there Saturday as family and friends gather to reminisce about “Dave” and his accomplishments and shenanigans. I’d also add a line to the above obituary, “Dave loved his friends, his pets and Dave loved Judy!”

David and I have been good friends since1968 freshman year in high school. Him and I went to Colorado snow skiing in 1975 and 1976. David and I also planted pine trees on the side of Highway 270. As you are going up north on 270 and you go under dourghty ferry if you look at the message board on the right, right behind that message board you’ll see Pinetree’s the David and I planted in 1976.
Dave and Judy Beal have been dear friends of mine for over 25 years. Dave and Judy are some of the finest people I’ve ever met. I will forever miss being able the spend time with Dave!
