Michael (Miller) Cody, 65, of Janesville, Wisconsin, died July 27, 2012, at Peace Haven Association in St. Louis, Missouri.
Ms. Cody was born August 31, 1946, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Bernard and Margaret (Michael) Miller, but spent her childhood in Lombard, Illinois. She graduated from Willowbrook High School, and went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University in Early Childhood Education. She moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 1984 to attend Kansas State University for her Master’s Degree in Educational Media.
Michael was dedicated to social work, and spent many years working with victims of domestic violence and the homeless population.
She was a ardent lover of the arts, specifically opera. She could usually be found on Saturdays listening to the Metropolitan Opera on the radio. She also loved collecting and restoring antiques, and when she moved to Wisconsin in 2006, she spent her retirement restoring her Civil War era home.
She is survived by her children, Jacob Cody and Joy Cody and their spouses, Christine Cody and Jeremy Wanat; granddaughters, Finnian Cody and Edith Wanat; grandson, Alfred Wanat and her sister, Genevieve Plotnick, her husband David and their son, Nisan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Margaret Miller and her sister, Ann.
Michael was cremated at St. Louis Cremation and will rest with her mother and grandfather in Galesburg, IL.
