“Marge” Marguerite Ockrassa

Marguerite “Marge” Ockrassa, nee Woodruff, peacefully asleep with Christ on August 18, 2014. Preceded by her caring husband of 60 years, Paul Ockrassa, married August 27, 1949. Mother to Donald (Cherol), Charles, Joyce, Dorothy (David) Johnson, and Edward (Nancy); grandmother of 12, great-grandmother of 3, and friend to many. She is survived by 4 sisters: Emerald Schoepp, Doris Collison, Carol Burkhard and Helen Sasse.

Born June 6, 1928, and raised in Maplewood, MO, she enjoyed her conservative, midwest life. Baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection on July 26, 1928 at St. John’s Morganford. Marge was 4th of 10 children born to Sophia (Schwartz) & Emry Woodruff. As a child she was full of fun, mischief, and enthusiasm. She enjoyed being active and played volleyball for decades with an exuberant & competitive spirit. Both these qualities were evident during her last game of Rummikub, just a week before she passed.

In addition to raising five children, Marge worked for Citizens Bank and Concordia Publishing House. She was very involved with her church and in Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod activities. She lived a Christian life of charity and generosity. For many years, Marge volunteered at Laclede Groves Retirement Community, where she also organized and ran the ice cream parlor for years.

Her mind is at peace forever; her soul safe in the embrace of the Lord.
