Helen Brenda Evans was born on September 17, 1950 in Mineral Point, Missouri to the late Arthur Andre Cole, Sr. and Vernice Marie Cole. She attended the St. Louis Public Schools. Helen worked at MOHELA as a student loan processor for over 20 years, retiring in 2010.

At an early age she gave her life to Christ. She began her faith at Mineral Point Baptist Church with her mother, father and siblings when she lived in Mineral Point, Missouri.

On February 26, 1966 she married McArthur Dandridge, Sr. and from thier union three children were born; Levean Conshell Dandridge, McArthur Dandridge, Jr. and Charles Dandridge who preceded her in death. On September 15, 1986 she married Willie James Evans, Sr. and remained married to him until her passing. They bore no children together.

Helen was admitted to Delmar Gardens North nursing facility on January 7th and passed away there on January 13th, 2015 at 11:20 am.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing; her loving husband Willie James Evans, Sr. , her brothers Arthur Cole Jr. (Martha), of St. Louis, MO, Robert James Cole (Nimpa) of Jacksonville, FL, Daniel Richard Cole (Janet), Lawrence Eugene Cole and Nathan Maurice Cole; her sisters Gloria Jean Cole (Lakita) of St. Louis, Missouri and Diane Marie Cole (Tremont); her daughter Levean Conshell Dandridge of St. Louis, Missouri; her son McArthur Dandridge Jr. of Long Beach, California; her grandchildren Terence Addison (Beverly), Jasmine Cherrelle Addison, DeCarlos Meeks of St. Louis and McArthur Dandridge III of Long Beach; and 1 great grandchild Nina Beanie (18 months old); her stepchildren, Willie James Evans, Jr., Shunta Evans and Corey Evans; her godchildren Phyllis Hinchey and Charles Jefferson; a very, very special friend Audrey Taylor (Larry) and other friends Josephine Kelly, Martha Dandridge, Maxine Washington, Kathern Wilson (Lonnie), Sharon Wilson and Felicia Smith; her mother-in-law Betty Evan; her siblings-in-law Lucretia Alkins Hardy (Leroy), Antoinette Evans, Sterling Evans and Johnny Ray Alkins; a host of other relatives and many friends.

Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. Open thou mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. I am a stranger in the earth, hide not thy Commandments from me. My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy Judgements at all time.

Thou has rebuked the proud that are cursed which do err from thy Commandments. Remove from me reproach and contempt, for I have kept thy testimonies in thy statutes. Thy testimonies also are my delight and my councilors.

Me: (Laughing) Your usual activity-cigarette.

Me: (Laughing) Mama, I love you.

My Ace Coon Boon: Levean, Levean, Levean, Levean…

Me: Yes Ma’am, Huh, Lady What?

My Ace Coon Boon: Can you fix me a bowl of chocolate ice cream and put Larry on the toilet?

Me: Ok Lady.

A viewing and memorial service and viewing will be held for her in the chapel at St. Louis Cremation on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. All are invited to attend. St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave. , St. Louis MO 63103.
