Florence Ruth Monroe

Florence Ruth Monroe passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on September 15, 2014. Flo was born on May 30, 1928 in Elyria, Ohio. She resided in Nashville, TN for 32 years prior to moving to St. Louis in 2011.

Loving mother of four daughters, Peggy Johnson (Slade), Mary Monroe, Colleen Harris, and Kelly Monroe; son, Greg Monroe; devoted grandmother of Erin Essenburg (Ben), Elly West (Josh) and Slade Johnson, Jr. (Corrie);, and five great grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers, John Ristas and Sam Ristas. She will be missed by loving nieces and nephews, family and friends.

At Flo’s request there will be no memorial service. The family will celebrate her life with a private gathering on Tuesday, September 16. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. to honor of her daughter, Colleen or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to honor her granddaughter, Erin.

    I have known “Ms. Flo” for over 30 years, and she was always nice to me and asked about my life. She will be sorely missed. Prayers going out to the family. God bless all of you.
