Jay Lee Lamar, 44, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008, at his residence with his family by his side following a brave battle against esophageal cancer. Jay was born on March 7, 1964, in Bad Axe, Mich., to Judith Lamar and Dennis Lamar. Jay resided in Racine County most of his life, moving to Missouri in 2001. Jay attended J.I. Case High School. He was employed at Time Warner in Racine for 16 years. Most recently, he was working as an independent contractor installing satellite systems. He had a great love and knowledge of computers, electronics, and music. He enjoyed being in the water, whether swimming, fishing, skiing, or snorkeling. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children. Jay is survived by his mother and father; his adoring children, Jay Jr. and Jana; his fiancée and mother of his children, Karen Rau; his sister, Kim (Mitchell Pezanoski) Lamar; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy and Lillian Larsen and Mildred and Ira Lamar.
Funeral Information
A Memorial service for Jay will be held at the Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 South Green Bay Road, in Racine, on Friday, May 2, 2008, at 6:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kara Baylor. Burial will take place at West Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Visitation at the church on Friday will be from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m.
